How this measure works

What it measures

Bitcoin mining difficulty sets how hard it is to find a valid block. It is shown in trillions (T) and adjusts every 2,016 blocks, about every two weeks, so that blocks stay about 10 minutes apart.

Formula

Difficulty = how many hashes are needed on average to find a block, relative to the minimum of 1, shown in trillions (T); it adjusts every 2,016 blocks

How to read it

An upward adjustment means hashrate grew since the previous period; a downward one means miners left. The line steps at each adjustment. Over the last year the low was 124.93 T on Jun 14, 2026 and the high was 155.97 T on Nov 3, 2025.

Limitations

Difficulty follows past hashrate with a delay of up to about two weeks. It does not show miner profit on its own. Read it together with other charts.
